Coating Machine
Solid Preparation

Coating Machine
Model: CTG Series
1. Product Overview
The coating machine is a core piece of equipment in solid dosage production, applying one or more functional coatings to the surface of tablets, pills, granules, and other solid dosage forms. Coating improves product appearance, masks unpleasant odors, protects the drug from environmental factors, controls release rates, and enhances stability. The machine sprays coating solution uniformly onto tablets tumbling inside the rotating pan while hot air dries them, forming a continuous, uniform, and dense film. It is widely used in the pharmaceutical, food, and nutraceutical industries.
Key Features
- High coating uniformity, film thickness deviation≤±5%
- Multi-functional: film coating, sugar coating, enteric coating, sustained-release coating
- Efficient hot air drying system, short coating time
- Variable frequency speed control, precise process control
- Fully automatic PLC control, recipe management, data logging
- GMP compliant, CIP/SIP optional
2. Working Principle
Film Coating
Tablets tumble continuously in the coating pan while the coating solution is atomized by high-pressure airless or dual-fluid spray guns and deposited evenly onto their surfaces. Hot air blown from the side or bottom of the pan rapidly evaporates the solvent to form the film. Film coating is fast (30–120 min) with a weight gain of 2%–5% and is the most widely used coating method.
Sugar Coating
This traditional syrup-based process builds the coat in layers: sealing, subcoating, syrup, colour, and polishing. It takes longer (6–12 hours) with a weight gain of 50%–100%, yet yields the smooth, attractive finish that keeps it in demand.
Enteric Coating
Enteric materials (e.g., L-type acrylic resin, cellulose acetate phthalate) withstand gastric acid yet dissolve in the intestinal environment to release the drug. Precise control of film thickness and uniformity ensures release at the correct site.
