Strapping Machine
Professional Packaging Equipment Supplier
1. Product Overview
The strapping machine is an automated packaging device that uses strapping material (PP strap, PET strap, steel strap, etc.) to secure and bundle packaged items. It is widely applied for bundling cartons, wooden cases, bricks, pipes, printed materials, and other items. Through four sequential operations — automatic strap feeding, tensioning, sealing (heat sealing or seal-less locking), and cutting — the machine tightly wraps strapping material around the package to form a stable unit that prevents package opening and facilitates handling and transportation. Strapping machines feature high bundling speed, uniform tension, strong seal joints, and easy operation, making them essential end-of-line packaging equipment in modern logistics and production lines. They are classified into manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic types by automation level, and into PP/PET plastic strap and steel strap types by strap material, to meet various strength and working condition requirements.
2. Working Principle
The working principle of the strapping machine involves four main steps: First, strap feeding — the feed wheel draws strapping material from the strap reel, guides it through the strap chute around the package, and returns the strap end to the machine inlet. Second, tensioning — once the strap end is clamped by the gripping mechanism, the tensioning wheel rapidly rotates to retract the strap, pulling it tightly against the package surface. Tension force can be adjusted according to different product and packaging requirements. Third, sealing (heat fusion) — the heating head inserts between the upper and lower strap layers, instantly heating them to melting temperature before retracting, and a pressure block immediately applies force to fuse the two layers together, forming a solid heat-sealed joint. For steel strap machines, a seal-lock mechanism crimps the strap ends together. Fourth, cutting — the cutter severs the strap, completing one strapping cycle. The entire process is automatically executed by a PLC or microcomputer controller, with sensors monitoring feeding, tensioning, and sealing status to ensure reliability and consistency of each strapping cycle.
