Hammer Mill
1. Product Overview
1.1 General Description
The hammer mill is a crushing machine that uses high-speed rotating hammers to impact and break materials, and is widely used for coarse and intermediate crushing of medium-hard materials in the chemical, building material, mining and grain industries. The hammers are hinged to the rotor and strike the material as it rotates at high speed; material broken by the hammers rebounds against the liner plates and is crushed again, while particles of the required size are discharged through the screen. The hammer mill offers a large crushing ratio (10-50), high capacity and a simple structure, but the hammers wear relatively fast and need periodic replacement. A dust collection system can be fitted to reduce dust pollution.
1.2 Key Features
- Large crushing ratio (10-50); coarse to intermediate crushing completed in a single pass
- High capacity, suitable for large-scale continuous production
- Hinged hammer design swings away from uncrushable objects to protect the rotor
- Adjustable discharge size controlled by the screen plate
- Simple structure and easy maintenance
- Optional dust collection system for a clean working environment
- Hammers can be turned over for extended service life
- A wide choice of hammer materials

2. Working Principle
2.1 Hammer Mill Process Flow
Hammer mill process flow: feeding → material enters the crushing chamber → high-speed impact from the hammers → rebound against the liner plates → repeated impact crushing → discharge through the screen → collection. Material enters the crushing chamber through the top feed inlet, where the high-speed rotating hammers (tip speed 40-60 m/s) strike it with great force; the broken material rebounds off the toothed liner plates and is struck by the hammers again. Particles of the required fineness pass through the bottom screen and are discharged, while coarse particles remain in the crushing chamber for further reduction. The hinged hammer design swings away when uncrushable material enters, protecting the machine from damage.
