Water Softener
Water Treatment

Water Softener
Technical Specification
Model: WS Series
1. Product Overview
The water softener removes calcium and magnesium ions (hardness) from water by means of sodium-form cation exchange resin: Ca²⁺ and Mg²⁺ are exchanged for Na⁺ on the resin, bringing effluent hardness down to ≤0.03mmol/L. Once the resin is exhausted, it is regenerated with a NaCl solution. Softeners are widely used wherever low-hardness water is required — boiler feed, cooling water, laundry service and more — preventing scale in equipment and piping.
Key Features
- Effluent hardness ≤0.03mmol/L
- Flow 1–100 m³/h
- Fully automatic regeneration
- Twin-tank alternating, continuous supply
- Low salt consumption
- Resin life 5–8 years
2. Working Principle
Softening
Ca²⁺ and Mg²⁺ in the water exchange with Na⁺ on the sodium-form cation resin: hardness ions are retained by the resin while Na⁺ passes into the water, lowering its hardness.
Regeneration
The exhausted resin is regenerated with a 5–10% NaCl solution; the high concentration of Na⁺ displaces the adsorbed Ca²⁺ and Mg²⁺, restoring the exchange capacity of the resin. Cycle: backwash → brine draw → slow rinse → fast rinse → brine refill.
