Reverse Osmosis System
Model: RO Series
1. Product Overview
A reverse osmosis (RO) system uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove dissolved salts, organics, and microorganisms from feed water. With a membrane pore size of about 0.0001 μm, it achieves salt rejection of 97–99%—the most efficient membrane desalination process available. RO systems are widely used for pharmaceutical purified water, food and beverage, electronics ultrapure water, and seawater desalination.
Key Features
- Salt rejection of 97–99%
- Capacity from 0.5 to 50 m³/h
- Membrane pore size of 0.0001 μm
- Fully automatic PLC control
- Membrane service life of 3–5 years
- Low energy consumption and operating cost
2. Working Principle
RO Principle
Driven by pressure above the osmotic pressure, water molecules pass through the semi-permeable membrane while dissolved salts and organics are retained on the feed side. With a pore size of about 0.1 nm, the membrane removes 97–99% of dissolved salts.
Membrane Array
RO trains are arranged in multiple stages (Stage 1 → Stage 2 → Stage 3), each recovering additional permeate from the previous concentrate. More stages mean higher recovery—about 75% for two stages and up to 85% for three.
3. System Classification
By Membrane
1. Spiral-wound (most common)
2. Hollow fiber
By Capacity
1. Small (0.5–5 m³/h)
2. Medium (5–20 m³/h)
3. Large (20–50 m³/h)

5. Core Component Selection
RO Membrane
Spiral-wound composite membranes from Dow/Filmtec and Hydranautics deliver 99.5% salt rejection and a service life of 3–5 years.
High-Pressure Pump
Multistage centrifugal or plunger pumps in SUS316L stainless steel, with an optional variable-frequency drive (VFD) for energy savings.
Pressure Vessel
FRP or stainless-steel pressure vessels rated for 300–1000 psi.
Pretreatment
A pretreatment train of multi-media filter, activated-carbon filter, water softener, and 5 μm cartridge filter protects the RO membranes from fouling.
Control System
A PLC with HMI touchscreen continuously monitors conductivity, pressure, and flow, with automatic flush and low-pressure protection.
