Vacuum Pump
1. Product Overview
A vacuum pump removes gas from a vessel by mechanical, physical or physicochemical means in order to create and maintain a vacuum. It consists of a pump casing, rotor/vanes/impeller, exhaust valve, cooling system and drive unit.
Typical duties: reduced-pressure distillation, vacuum filtration, vacuum drying, vacuum coating, food freeze-drying and pharmaceutical concentration.
Key features: high ultimate vacuum, a wide pumping-speed range, versatile constructions (dry or wet running) and suitability for corrosive gas service.
2. Working Principle
The volume of the working chamber changes cyclically: during the suction stroke the expanding volume creates a vacuum that draws gas in; during the compression stroke the shrinking volume compresses the gas until its pressure exceeds the exhaust pressure and it is discharged; the cooling system carries away the heat of compression. Different pump types create vacuum in different ways — a liquid-ring pump relies on a liquid seal, a rotary-vane pump on vanes dividing the chamber volume, and a Roots pump on two synchronously rotating lobes.
3. System Classification
By Working Principle
| Type | Features | Application Scenarios |
|---|---|---|
| Liquid ring vacuum pump | Uses liquid as working fluid, handles condensable gas | Chemical, pharma, paper, coal mining |
| Rotary vane vacuum pump | Vanes slide in rotor slots, volume changes | Labs, small packaging, vacuum smelting |
| Roots vacuum pump | Two lobe rotors rotate synchronously, no compression | Booster pump from rough to high vacuum |
| Dry screw vacuum pump | Twin screws mesh, dry operation | Chemical, semiconductor, pharma (oil-free) |
| Water jet vacuum pump | High-speed water jet entrainment | Vacuum concentration, evaporation |
4. Detailed Technical Parameters
4.1 Typical Specification Table
| Type | Pumping Speed (m³/h) | Ultimate Vacuum | Working Fluid/Cooling | Power | Applicable Media |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Liquid ring (2BV/2SK) | 0.5~120 | -0.097MPa (~33mbar) | Water/Other liquids | 0.75~30kW | Moist, condensable gas |
| Rotary vane (2X) | 0.5~30 | 6×10⁻²Pa | Air/Water cooled | 0.37~5.5kW | Dry, dust-free gas |
| Roots (ZJ) | 30~3000 | ≤0.05Pa (with backing pump) | Air/Water cooled | 2.2~75kW | Dry, non-toxic gas |
| Dry screw | 10~1200 | ≤0.1Pa | Air/Water cooled | 5.5~90kW | Corrosive, dusty gas |
Note: Roots and screw pumps usually cannot exhaust to atmosphere directly; a backing pump is required.
